PUBG’s Sanhok Event Pass is exactly what it sounds like

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is borrowing the event pass concept from a certain other game.

PUBG Corp. has announced a new way for PUBG players to unlock cosmetic content, separate from the dire crate and key system.

In a blog post, the developer explained that the intent behind the current crate and key system was to allow players to unlock content “in meaningful ways”, and bizarrely pointed out that the system “can feel extremely satisfying whenever you unlock rare items.”

The developer realises, however, that this is system screws over the majority of participants, regardless of how much money they’ve put into it.

The solution? A Fortnite Battle Pass-style system. Called the Event Pass, this new system solves the game’s severe progression problem, while also rewarding players more regularly with cosmetic content.

The first one of these, the Sanhok Event Pass, will be available alongside the map’s launch on Friday, June 22. The pass offers Sanhok-themed content – hence the name – based on challenges you can perform on all maps.

If you want to unlock content from Sanhok Event Pass permanently, you’ll need to buy into it. That said, even if you don’t, your progress will still be tracked so you can get the rewards if you do sign up.

What’s more, players who don’t buy the pass will also be able to “temporarily” unlock “many” of the items included in the pass, though permanent unlocks are obviously reserved for paying players.

The Sanhok Event Pass can be levelled up by completing certain missions, and it’s going to include daily, weekly and map-specific missions for a steady progression. Each pass lasts for four weeks, and the rewards you earn will not be tradable or marketable.

You’ll also have one chance at getting a free in-game name change by completing these missions.

Exact details about pass content, and its price, will be announced prior the Friday launch.

The thing is Fortnite did this to gain some money, Pubg is a game that you already need to play for and then they are also asking for a pass if you ask me that is just disgusting marketing
