Charles Martinet has received a Guinness World Record for the most video game voiceover performances as the same character - 100 as Mario.

Martinet took to Instagram to publish a video expressing his delight at the award. And on Twitter he said the recent release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Nintendo Switch pushed his Mario video game voiceover list to 100.

With Craig receiving my record certificate @GWR for most video game voiceover performances as the same character – 100, as Mario – on 7 December 2018 upon the release of #SuperSmashBrosUltimate#woohoo! Many thanks to #Nintendo and #GWRpic.twitter.com/ICfKlK9hO1

Martinet is the instantly-recognisable voice behind perhaps the most famous video game character of all time. He's voiced Mario since 1990, and he's also the voice behind Wario, Luigi, Waluigi, Baby Luigi and Baby Mario.

But while the 63-year-old American voice actor is best-known for his work with Nintendo, he's branched out into other video games, too. Did you know he also voiced the dragon Paarthurnax from Skyrim?
