Minecraft 1.17 Announced

Firstly, the winner of the mob vote was the Glow Squid. It appears to be a squid that glows.

Now on to the important stuff. The new update has been titled "The Caves and Cliffs Update." it will overhall caves and mountain generation.

Two new cave types were shown, lush caves, and dripstone caves. However, there will be more to come. As for the caves we were shown, the lush caves can be found from the surface where the new azalea trees grow. These caves are filled with greenery as well as the new axolotls. The dripstone caves provide a stark contrast with their many shades of grey and dangerous stalagtights.

Another shocking addition are the new warden mobs as well as skulk sensors. Both of these work off of the new sound machanic allowing wardens to follow players based on sound and the skulk sensors to give a redstone signal when it detects sound.

Some other additions are copper, telescopes, archiology, and amythist. The new copper ore can be used to craft blocks, slaps, and such. After an undicided amount of time, the copper will oxidise and turn green. The archiology feature allows players to find dig sights in the world and dig of pieces of clay pots they can use to make their own pottery.

The team also anounced new mountain generation, however, the clips shown during Mincraft Live are not the finnished product.
