How long do your earbuds or headphones last on average?

  • 6

I owned serveral cheap earphones and they last about a years at best..After the first two pairs i started to get really careful and one ear would still broke. So im starting to buy more expensive earphone now, i hope i will get what i paid for. What about you guys ? Do you think i should buy a gaming headphone or just a headphone from a good brand ?

Also, how much is too much for a headphone in your opinion ? Cause i think the Airpod is too pricey, but at the same time, Sony headphones seem like a good deal despite it's high price (i still wish one day i could save enough money to buy the WH-1000XM4)

I've always bought relatively inexpensive (under $40) headphones, mostly Sony and Koss brand, and they've typically lasted 3-7 years with fairly regular use.  Though, I have had the occasional pair that didn't make it past a year and one pair that lasted close to 15 years (it was looking pretty grungy, mind you, but it was still perfectly functional).

I've been thinking I should finally splurge a bit and at least see what a better pair of headphones has to offer.  That said, I can't envision myself ever paying more than $100 for headphones.

Wow gotta have repect to that headphone which lasts 15 years xD. And thank for your reply, eventhough 40$ is not a cheap price in my country but at least they serve you a fair amount of time.

Yeah, though I think I just got lucky, because when I bought a replacement pair of the same model - Koss UR20 - it only lasted 5-6 years.  Still not bad, though, for $20 headphones.  The major drawbacks to them is that they're kinda clunky and can get hot/sweaty with prolonged use.  But I used them for everything from gaming to watching movies to wearing them while working out.  They took a beating but still performed like a champ.

Maybe Philips SHP9500 (open-back) or Audio Technica ATH-M50x (closed-back), those seem popular. You can find them used on eBay. Those Sony WH-1000 are mostly popular due to noise cancelation so if you need that then it's a good choice.
