In the long forgotten times of Windows 8 I bought Peter Jackson's King Kong. What could go possibly wrong Peter Jackson - director of the famous Lord of the Rings movie adaptations - and King Kong - who doesn't love an oversized Gorilla?

The game was made as a spin-off for his movie remake of King Kong and I tell you the game was better as it had any right to be.

The real monster lurking in the shadows wasn't one of the many dinos you encounter in this game but a DRM mechanism called StarForce imbedding itself deeply into your operating system.

On came Windows 10 and Microsoft decided they wouldn't have this intrusion in the core of their OS any longer. Now you couldn't install StarForce on a Win 10 machine even if you wanted and you certainly don't want to.

This rendered the game unplayable for the majority of PC gamers myself included. But the good people of the internet are restless and created Peter Jackson's King Kong gamers edition HD where the pesky StarForce is ripped out and the game runs perfectly on Win 10 machines.

I won't promote piracy and provide you with a direct link. Suffice it to say internet billionaire Brewster Kahle co-finances a website where there is a treasure chest with some real gaming gems to be found.

I remember playing the demo of the game. Fighting those 2 T-rex and not having any idea on how to progress , or defeat them.

Yep, it's not an easy game and controls are a bit janky for today's standard. Sometimes you'll have to do actions in a specific order or the AI will bug out. In case you're stuck watching a playthrough on YT may help.

Peter Jackson was heavily involved with the development of the game. I remember The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers game also being pretty involved with the movie studio, which was unusual for movie license-based titles.
