Depends on your needs. If you just need a basic laptop for general use, it's hard to beat a sub-$500 Dell laptop that you can get for dirt cheap, if not outright free, thanks to all the DRP they spoil us with on here.

But if you want something that's actually capable of some moderate gaming, something with a dedicated (albeit entry level) GPU, there are cheaper options from HP, MSI, or Lenovo available at your local big box retailer.
