Atari after bankruptcy in 2013 returned as a relatively successful company. They focused on casino operations, the mobile gaming market and several other businesses, and now announce that they are returning to console production!

Their new console will be called Ataribox and will soon be presented. We do not have the concept of a kind of retro console or device that will compete with PlayStation, Xbox and Switch, but it is allegedly based on the x86 architecture as well as current consoles. According to the teaser trailer, the console casing may have a wooden component or at least a textured tree transition.

Atari has not released the console since 1993 when their Jaguar sold a record-breaking number of copies - just over a hundred thousand.

For good or ill, the Atari of today has basically nothing to do with the Atari from decades ago. The name has been bought and sold many times since its inception.
