Divinity: Original Sin 2 has sold one million copies

Whether or not Divinity: Original Sin 2 is up there with the greatest RPGs of all time is a matter of debate. What's not up for discussion is that it is a big hit for developer Larian Studios.

That number comes not much more than two months after the game was released. For such an unabashedly old-school RPG, that's a remarkable achievement. Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of those sales came by way of Steam: SteamSpy indicates 921,000 owners on the platform, leaving around—probably a little under—ten percent for GOG.

Lots of people are still playing it, too: Today's peak concurrent player count topped 14,000, keeping it well in the middle of the Steam Top 100 pack.

I hope it's only beginning. This game is really good. Thank you for this amazing game Larian Studios!

Interstellar

Congrats! They truly make good RPGs. No microtransactions and they care about their fans. Support independent developers like Larian. Keep up with the great work guys!

Edit: Here's the games I backed on Kickstarter

Divinity: Original Sin 2  successful project received recognition of a million fans!

From a project that originated from kickstarter, it turned out to be one of the best turn based RPG's ever, and produced a sequel that is a GOTY candidate (at least in my book, apparently those shitty game awards don't share the same opinion).

Makes me glad that turn based games are making a comeback with XCOM and Divinity being the frontrunners of it, both being able to make arguably better sequels than their original counterparts.
