GSC Game World answered 24 questions from fans about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

The “Антишнапс” video blogger contacted GSC Game World and asked about 100 questions about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on behalf of fans of the series. Representatives of the developers responded to some of them and, despite the streamlined and common phrases, you can learn curious moments from them. The second part of the answers the blogger promised to post later.


1. Why did you announce the game right now?

- We decided that it is dishonest to hide such a significant and expected event from all our fans. Especially now, when we know how many players we have made this event a little happier. The pressure, of course, was higher, but we had the opportunity to talk with the players, to hear about their thoughts, desires and dreams. Well, we are very confident in the project.

2. Will we see remakes of old parts?

- While we have no specific plans that can be announced.

3. How many people are currently working on the game, including freelancers?

- We have a very large team, much larger than when we were developing the previous parts of the franchise.

4. Will there be a release of the game on next-generation consoles?

“For the time being, we are not declaring an official list of platforms on which the project will be released, well, let's all wait at least for the official announcement of the new generation consoles.

5. Is development conducted only by you or are other studios / companies helping you and do you have staff from Vostok Games or 4A Games?

- The development is carried out by the team of the studio GSC Game World, but our developers have previously worked in almost all the loudest world companies, including Ukrainian ones.
6. Do the players who, upon your return, again represent Stalker 2 as a super game scare you, where will everything they dream of scare you?

- Not. Such things do not frighten us, but on the contrary inspire us. The team employs only fans of the series, so we do what we ourselves dreamed of.

7. Do you finance the development from your own funds, or do you have a publisher?

- Yes, by yourself.

8. Is it true that in S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 will be a cooperative?

- We have never spoken about this, so we cannot confirm or deny this statement.

9. Doubt the financial success of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 do not have to, I think. Are there any planned third-party projects on the universe, like the same Fallout 76? Not such a failure, of course.

- We have a lot of plans for the development of our favorite game universes, but at the moment all the main forces of the team are focused on making S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 by the game that loyal fans expect from us, and therefore it's too early to announce something else.


10. At what percentage is the game ready?

- We talk about it regularly, development progress is not measured in percentages, but now there is a stage of confidence that we are doing something truly high-quality and are proud of it. We very much believe that the players will feel how much strength and soul we have invested and continue to invest the project.

11. After solving the first part of the cipher, there was a relative lull? In which area should players dig? Maybe some tips are in the art posted on the site?

-The players have many different interesting guesses, we would not like to give hints, but since this question is often asked, we will hint: indeed, the next part of the code can be found on our updated website, but not quite where many try to find it.

12. Does the music for this project are written by a single composer or, as for “Shadows of Chernobyl”, several?

-Music creates an internal studio team.

13. Do you plan to add some innovations to the game: gameplay or graphic?

-Innovations will be many, and the most different: both gameplay and visual.

14. Will there be developer diaries?

-We would really like to show the whole development process, now we are trying to collect enough materials so that our fans can not only play, but feel how to create a much-anticipated project.

15. Do you plan to go on the same “Kickstarter” in order to receive additional financing?

-No, nothing like that in the plans. But you can always support us by purchasing our already released projects, we will be grateful!

16. Have any modders been involved? At least as a freelancer? And if not a secret, what?

-We work with some modders, but for now the members of the development team remain secret.

17. There was a rumor that Andrei Volgin was shooting a film on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - it's true?

-We do not comment on rumors.

18. When developing the world, you try to observe the canonicity of the previous parts, or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be something innovative?

“We believe that we are now well able to combine a unique atmosphere, canonicity and innovation so that it is organic.

19. Will the development team arrive at the next conferences (E3 and others)?

-Our developers regularly attend specialized conferences and exhibitions.

20. Do you plan to learn something from mods during development?

“We constantly monitor modifications and often receive letters from our fans asking them to pay attention to certain new features.

21. This is a continuation of work on the canceled S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 or a new game that has nothing to do with the 2012 game?

-S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 - a new project that uses all the best ideas that our company has.

22. How confident are you that the game will meet your expectations? Yet over the years they have grown to the skies ...

-It is impossible to justify the expectations of all as everyone is waiting for something of his own, but we know that the best of the best work on the project and we do everything as qualitatively as possible.

23. As you know, games have a classification. Are you planning to release an AAA game or are your plans more modest?

-Yes, this is a high-grade AAA game.


24. Are you satisfied with the results that you have at the moment?

-The best answer to this question was answered by our boss on his page, he likes everything, just like our team. Set goals are performed even slightly faster than deadlines.
