Cyberpunk 2077 Introducing a Copyrighted Music "Disabled" Mode

  • 11

During episode 5 of the CD Project Red (CDPR) hosted Night City Wire, series host Hollie Bennet, UK Head of Communication at CDPR, stated "We want to introduce you to a new mode that will allow you to disable certain copyrighted tracks." She went on to further detail that this mode will not simply remove the music but rather "disable a small number of selected tracks ... replacing them with a different song." The ability to use this mode will be available to PC and console players in the game options menu.

The release of Cyberpunk 2077 has been subjected to a number of delays, most recently being pushed back to December 10th of this year. In light of all the delays, this announcement brings a bit of good news to content creators who have been required to identify and remove copyright claimable licensed music from their YouTube videos and livestreams. In another gesture to an eagerly awaiting audience, a free 6 track Cyberpunk 2077 EP has been released to YouTube, Spotify and a host of other music streaming platforms.

Night City Wire is an all things Cyberpunk 2077 informational series that has been streamed live every 4-6 weeks since June 25th, 2020. All episodes can be found on the Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube channel.

That's smart- now streamers and youtubers won't get copyright striked. Good thinking, devs.

What a beautiful world where people can't stream their beloved games without muting all its best musics because of copyright stupid shit.

It's good thinking but shitty that they even have to do that in the first place. Twitch should take care of its creators better.
