The stolen data from game developer CD Projekt Red that got captured during a ransomware attack, was thrown online and got auctioned. That is what data security-platform vx-underground tells us on Twitter

At first glance, it looked like it was only about the source code of the game Gwent, but that seemed to be just a teaser.

Shortly after that teaser, the source code of The Witcher 3, Thronebreaker and Cyberpunk 2077 and some internal data of the company, were presented on an online auction.

According to vx-underground, the auction got successfully closed off and the source code of both games was sold.

A little time ago CDPR announced that they got hacked and that internal data and the source code of Cyberpunk 2077, Gwent and The Witcher 3 got stolen. They published the ransom note on their Twitter account with the announcement that they were not going to pay.

It seems now, that the hackers have offered the source code through an auction on a hacking forum. A part of the Gwent source code was visible on one of the screenshots vx-underground published on their Twitter. Also, a screenshot of the auction got published. The starting bid was one million dollars and the entire package could be sold immediately for seven million dollars. According to vx-underground, shortly after the opening of the auction, it got closed already because a deal got closed outside the auction.

It is yet unknown who bought the package and what the intentions are. It is also not known for how much money the leaked data and source code of all the games got sold. The sale got confirmed by KELA, a security company who is specialized in monitoring the darknet.
