Children of Morta, the rogue-lite action RPG from Dead Mage and 11 bit studios, is all about bonds and fighting together. It’s dangerous to descend to the dungeons alone, and with the latest free upgrade on Steam, from February 14th the game lets you do it with a distant friend thanks to the online co-op.

The type of bonds embraced in Children of Morta are family ones. The game tells the story of the heroic guardians of Mount Morta, who protect it from the upcoming Corruption and happen to be a family. Their name is Bergsons. With typical RPG character classes like archer or warrior turned into family archetypes, and a rich narrative revolving around protecting those who are closest to our hearts, the theme resonates with every aspect of Children of Morta.

Now, with the addition of the online co-op - and yes local co-op is still an option - friends from distant lands can fight side by side. Online play is supported in both main story and Family Trials modes. The latter is purely an action-oriented challenge with a multi-leveled dungeon that is swarmed with monsters.

The heroic Bergson family began their epic journey with the launch of Children of Morta in September 2019, and the online co-op update marks the eighth and final stop on the game’s Development Roadmap. Previous updates introduced new difficulty levels, the aforementioned Family Trails mode, new playable characters, and more. In addition, the ‘Paws and Claws’ charity DLC helped raise thousands of dollars for Humane Society International to help domestic and wild animals.

You can pick up Children of Morta with the new update on Steam.
