Valve Files New Trademark

  • 4

After more than a decade of hibernation, Valve has been busy with all kinds of projects. Valve's Steam Deck sales and modifications, VR ventures, and updates to the Steam app have breathed new life into the iconic studio. (For reference, the 2020 VR game, Half-Life Alyx, was the first Half-Life game in 13 years.)

Valve has kept the energy rolling and the internet buzzing with its latest initiative. The company just filed for a new trademark called Neon Prime. The (pending) trademark that Valve applied for covers computer game software, electronic game software, video game software, and computer game programs downloadable via the internet.

While I've seen a wide array of people hope/manifest that it's a Ricochet sequel, the language of the trademark is pretty vague. This means Neon Prime could be a wide array of things-- new software for their VR ventures, demos for future products, etc. Still, this hasn't stopped the internet from doing it's thing and playing the guessing game.

So I wanted to ask members here-- do you think Valve will actually develop a new game? What do you think this Neon Prime project has in store?
