Arena Rewards Program 4.0
(Updated with Holiday Hotfix 12/21)
It’s finally here. ARP is getting a shake-up. We’ve been leaking some information for the past month about it. The overwhelming response was, “It can’t come soon enough.” We know. It’s here.
For a quick little recap, before we get into the details (and withheld ones) of ARP 4.0, we have made some big changes over the year. Last year, around this time, we introduced the first level-gating for site content. Our user-base has been continually growing and it had become apparent for a long time that our higher-level members were missing out when we didn’t have enough for everyone. For the most part, level-gating worked nicely.
However, it became apparent shortly after, the quickest means of level-progression was uploading and posting content as fast as possible. ARP 4.0 marks a transition on how ARP is earned. Where quantity was the answer before, quality will be the answer today. ARP 4.0 is community driven. Whatever the community likes, the community rewards.
(I’m positive at this point, most of you are ready for the details, so let’s just get on with it.)
There are two ways you can earn ARP: Daily Activities and from your Community Gain. You are limited on the amount of ARP you can earn from Daily Activities. There is no cap on how much ARP you can earn from your Community Gain.

Community Gain (CG)
- CG is affected by other members voting on your posts
- Every post has its own CG tally
- Higher-level members affect CG greater than lower levels
- CG’s scores and level values are not publicly viewable
- The visual number on each post shows the total number of upvotes minus the total number of downvotes, not your post’s CG tally
- As your CG raises on a post, you will gain additional ARP
- If your post’s CG drops below a certain threshold, the post will be automatically hidden and marked for review. If it is removed by an admin, the following ARP deductions will occur:
- Loss of all ARP gained from the post
- -10 ARP
- Loss of ARP for any member who upvoted the removed post
The community is the backbone of this system. As you vote on content, you reward others with CG. The higher level you are, the more influence you have on their CG (Protip: Level 8's give a ton of CG, so be nice to them). But try and mess with the system, and you'll get bit hard. The loss of ARP is not worth it anymore. Spammers beware, people gain ARP now for using downvotes on you. Anyone who upvotes to superficially raise a spammers ARP, will lose ARP.
We have a lot more coming. This is only phase 1 of our overhaul. When we feel comfortable with how this is running we will be able to release phase 2. Phase 2 will be the biggest shake up here ever with a complete revamp of our level system, rewards and the inclusion of daily quests. More information will come down the road, but in the meantime, we hope ARP 4.0 will be a welcome change to our community.
Happy ARPing!!
