A group of students made a reboot of Contra game from 1987
More than 30 years ago, Konami launched Contra, run and gun action game where the player takes control of an armed commander who has to fight different alien monsters. Three decades later, within the faculty project, a group of exactly eight students designed a reboot version of the old NES game, and being more than happy and proud of their achievement, they decided to share their own Contra game release with the rest of the gaming community.
Contra 2028, how they've called it, is based on the 1987 title of the same name - obviously - and includes the elements of Vanquish, an action shooter from the third person from 2010. Consequently, the student project contains hyper-jump mechanics, the ability to slow down time while in the air then the ability of sliding through the hangar. Also, the game comes with a leaderboard that reveals how (not)skillful fighter you are.
Finally, Contra 2028 has only one level run by Unreal Engine 4 and if you would like to experience how killing a monster in this student project works, just visit the official website where you will find a free version and other information about the title.
