Respawn tries to find new ways to punish quitters in Apex Legengs

  • 1412

A recent feature that apparently was turned on by mistake, would punish players with a 5 minute cooldown between games if they quit mid-match 3 times. If players continued to constantly quit matches this penalty would increase.

For now this cooldown was turned off, but Respawn are working on a way of implementing some sort of punishment for quitters:

So internally, we have been working on and testing this feature but it wasn't our intention or plan to have it go live with the update that went out today. There was a piece of script that was missing and caused the leaving match early penalty to be turned on when it shouldn't be. That's why it wasn't in the patch notes.

We updated the script, tested with QA and it's now disabled for all platforms. We don't have an ETA for if or when this would come out for real. Apologies for the confusion.

Counter-strike has this for quite some time already, but its a good thing

Most games do something like this. I can't think of another way they might implement a punishment when the game doesn't really have much else to take away

they  dont do nothing for hackers but they want to punish normal players game will be dead in a year

I don't want to compare CS with a "casual" Battle Royale Game. In Apex you have no choice about playing a ranked match. So if you get punished for when you maybe have like 15min gaming time left or even have to quit earlier, is not a good solution for this game. Why does every game has to be an e-sport title these days? Sure it keeps the game alive and brings money to the devs, but damn just let me play please!

Punishment is a good thing, think about it what if where you live, the place gets on fire and you leave 3 times to make shore there is really a fire, and then think to yourself did I burn toast I won't worry about it. The punishment could save your real life, and others. One of the reasons For honor the game has a punishment system.

Give quitters a 24-hour account-wide log-in suspension. That'll hurt them enough to make them think twice before queuing up.

For some people game is still crashing alot, so when your game crash but you still try to play you will get punish..My friend has this problem since the beginning , sometimes it runs good, sometimes it crashes with no reason, and he has decent pc..

Should've made it 5 minutes for 2 times then 45 minutes for 3 times

the game is F2P you can just have like 10 accounts to log in to and just switch around ones the ban gets a long time making this kinda pointless.
