Alienware Arena launched in July 2009 with one job: host online gaming tournaments. Partnering with heavyweight publishers like Valve and Riot to run competitive events for titles such as Counter-Strike: Source, Left 4 Dead, and League of Legends. 

From Tournaments to Free Games

By 2011, the platform evolved. Arena began working with those same publishers to promote their games through exclusive key giveaways and other promotional offers. Free game codes became a signature sought-after perk, and word spread fast.

As online gaming exploded in popularity, Arena built something bigger than a bracket: a community platform. Gamers gathered to talk shop about the latest topics in PC gaming and hardware, swap opinions, and connect over the games they loved. 

Points Enter the Arena

In 2012, the first version of Arena Reward Points went live. Members earned points by interacting with each other in the forums. Those points worked as XP, letting members level up and unlock additional perks across the site. 

The Pivot Point (2017-2021): Rewards Grew their Value

In 2017, Alienware Arena integrated with the Dell Advantage program, allowing members the ability to earn Dell Reward Dollars for various actions on Alienware Arena. Dell Advantage Dollars were a precursor to Dell Reward Points. Loyal Arena members were now earning real loyalty rewards from Dell.com simply by participating in activities on Alienware Arena.

2018 introduced a new era of gamified objectives around the site. Using interactive games and hidden triggers, community members teamed up to solve riddles and uncover answers together. Rewards expanded too, adding physical merchandise and free games to the mix.
